The cost of building a house in Nigeria does not have a specific price tags,building a house in Nigeria and the cost involve depends on the location of the building and what kind of building you want. The building project can be easily estimated by a Quantity surveyor but it does not guaranty 100% cover, the expenses involve in building a house in Nigeria varies due to different factors especially when it comes to do with Nigeria.

The factors sometimes affect  the cost of building in Nigeria positively or negatively, the factors which affect the cost of building in Nigeria I will explain them below.

  1. Cost Of Land: The cost of land varies due to the location of the land, as we all know land is one of the limited commodity that can don't depreciate but always appreciate in cost and demand. Everyone wants to build his/her house or business building etc, so the location matter, you cannot compare the cost of land in Victoria Island, Lagos and that of  Igan, Lagos. The cost will be different even though they are from the same state. So the cost of purchasing the land also determines or affect the cost of building a house.
  2. Type Of Building: the cost of a residential building defers from the cost of a company building, the size and materials that will be used will be different and the quantities requested will be high. So the type of building you want to build will determine the cost of building in Nigeria.
  3. Cost Of Material: Material cost in Nigeria varies which has tend to be a normal thing in Nigeria, with petroleum product increasing in price so will the cost of materials will increase there by causing the cost of building in Nigeria to increase.
  4. Cost Of Labour: The cost of labour will surely determine the cost of building in Nigeria, man power matters a lot when building, this also is another factor.
So if you are thinking of building in Nigeria, you should seriously consider these factors and more, as these will help give you a "rough" estimate of what you have to spend and you won't be surprise if you actually spend less.
